Motorola's budget smartphone, the Moto G5S has been subjected to temporary price cuts in the last few weeks, but now the company has announced a permanent price cut for the handset.
The Moto G5S today has received a permanent price cut of Rs 5,000, making its price drop to Rs 9,999. This price cut is effective starting today at Moto Hubs, Amazon India and other retail stores across the country.
The smartphone was launched in India in August last year at Rs 14,999 in Fine Gold, Lunar Grey and Oxford Blue colour options along with Moto G5s Plus.
The Moto G5S is a special edition smartphone and billed as the successor of the Moto G5. It sports a metal unibody design and houses a fingerprint sensor in the home button itself. In terms of specifications, the Moto G5S has a 5.2-inch full HD display of 1080x1920p resolution and 424 ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer on the top. Powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, it packs in 4GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. There is also a microSD card support of up to 128GB as well. For imaging duties, there is a 16MP rear camera with PDAF along with a 5MP front-facing camera, coupled with a LED flash. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery, the Moto G5S includes 4G LTE, GSM/EDGE, Bluetooth version 4.2, dual nano-SIM, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS.
For those unaware, Motorola is soon going to launch the successor of the Moto G5S on April 19 in Brazil. The company is expected to launch Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and the G6 Play, all of which have seen their share of leaks and rumours since a while now. Among them, Moto G6 was also seen listed on Amazon Canada website without an image, revealing key specifications such as a 5.7-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, a dual-rear camera setup (12MP + 5MP), 16MP front camera, an octa-core processor, 32GB in-built storage and 3000mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging support.
Since the price cut was announced in the same week in India, there remains little doubt that the new Moto G6 line up will make its way to the domestic market in the first wave of launch itself.
