Xiaomi Mi 7 Spotted on Geekbench With Snapdragon 845 SoC

It appears like Xiaomi is working on multiple smartphones with Snapdragon 845 SoC. Today, a new Xiaomi smartphone codenamed Dipper paid a visit to popular benchmarking portal Geekbench, and the surprise here is the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. And the chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM, which isn’t a surprise for a flagship smartphone. But the real question: which smartphone is this? It definitely is not the Mi Mix 2S smartphone as reports have suggested the codename Polaris for the upcoming flagship device. This leads us to believe that the Dipper codename is of Xiaomi Mi 7.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 was said to be the company’s first device company’s first Snapdragon 845 SoC device. However, the Chinese company changed its plans and will be launching the Mix 2S with the flagship SoC on March 27, ahead of the Mi 7. And it was reported that the delay of Mi 7’s launch is due to the dedicated hardware for the facial recognition feature.
Talking about today’s benchmark leak, the Xiaomi Mi 7 aka Xiaomi Dipper was running Android 8.0 Oreo at the time of benchmarking, and it achieved a single-core score of 2449 and multi-core of 8309. These scores are on-par with Samsung Galaxy S9+ with Snapdragon 845 SoC which achieved 2422 single-core score and 8351 multi-core score.
Unfortunately, the benchmark report did not reveal any other details about the Xiaomi Mi 7. However, this is not the first time we’re looking at the Mi 7 on the internet because it was leaked numerous times in the last few months.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to have a 6.01-inch Full HD+ display to the front, along with an in-display fingerprint scanner and several sensors for the advanced facial recognition features like the iPhone X. The Mi 7 was always rumoured to arrive with Snapdragon 845 SoC, and it might come in a premium 8GB RAM variant, like the Mi Mix 2S.
The phone will retain the glass body, but this time around, Xiaomi will be adding wireless charging feature as the Mi Mix 2S is already confirmed to arrive with wireless charging. The rumoured Mi 7 will have a dual camera setup at the back, followed by a much-better front-facing camera with various Artificial Intelligence features. It’s also expected to feature a larger 4480mAh battery.
The release date of the Mi 7 is unknown at the moment, but with the smartphone started appearing on benchmarks, we’re drawing close to the launch date. Rumours suggest a June launch for the Mi 7 alongside the MIUI X or MIUI 10.
