The company is gearing up to launch a new Redmi smartphone on March 14, which is rumoured to be the Redmi 5.
Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain has tweeted about a launch on March 14. Though he does not mention the name, the tweet mentions that the upcoming device will be a powerhouse as it is called #CompactPowerhouse.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus in December in China. The 2GB RAM of the Redmi 5 is priced at CNY 799 (approximately Rs 8,100), the 3GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 899 (approximately Rs 9,100) while the 4GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs 13,200).
In terms of specifications, the Redmi 5 features a 5.7-inch display with a 1440 x 720 pixels resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor with 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM variants. It will also be available in 16GB/32GB storage variants.
It will come equipped with a 12MP rear camera along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 3300mAh battery completes the package.
On the other hand, the Redmi 5 Plus sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display with a 1080x2160 pixels resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor along with 3Gg and 4GB RAM options. It will also come equipped with a 12MP rear camera along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 4000mAh battery completes the package.
