Now iOS WhatsApp Users Can Delete Sent Messages Even After One Hour

WhatsApp has submitted a new update to the Apple App Store with version number- 2.18.31. Even though the official changelog is same as the previous app version, it does bring a much-needed feature to the table, and that’s the extended time for deleting a message. Yes, you heard it right. WhatsApp is now allowing iOS users to delete a message within 4096 seconds, which converts to 1 hour, 8 minutes and 16 seconds. That’s a handy feature, and WhatsApp hasn’t stated about this feature on the official changelog for some unknown reasons.
However, WABetaInfo, which is known for testing all the WhatsApp features ahead of release has confirmed this news on Twitter. “A new WhatsApp for iOS update (2.18.31) is available on AppStore. It is a bug fixes update, but it has the new “Delete for everyone” limit, that’s 1 hour, 8 minutes and 16 seconds,” tweeted WABetaInfo.
Back then, when the feature rolled out to Android users, it was said that it would arrive in iOS very soon and it took less than a week for WhatsApp for the rollout. However, Windows Phone users have left out again, but we’re expecting WhatsApp to extend the delete messages deadline for them also with an upcoming update.
The same feature was added to the Android version at the start of this month, and it was appreciated by many people out there. The same will happen with iOS as well. Essentially, this feature extends the ‘Delete for Everyone’ time to a whopping 4096 seconds. And for the unknown, the Delete for Everyone deadline used to be seven minutes or 420 seconds earlier.
WhatsApp rolled out the Delete for Everyone feature last year on popular demand from the users. This feature will come into effect when you send a message to a wrong person, allowing you to delete the message later on. However, the delete message will be marked as ‘message was deleted.’ The feature is currently available for all the three platforms- Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
