Sony Xperia XZ1 with Android 8.0 Oreo, 3D scanning camera launched at Rs 44,990

Sony has launched its Xperia XZ1 flagship smartphone in India priced at Rs 44,990. The handset was launched alongside the Xperia XZ1 Compact and the XA1 Plus earlier this month during IFA 2017 conference in Berlin. The new smartphone will be up for grabs starting today in Black colour variant.
While the Sony Xperia XZ1 was introduced with Android 7.1.1 Nougat earlier this month, in India the handset will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. This also makes the handset one of the first non-Google smartphones with Android 8.0 available in India.
While Android 8.0 Oreo was the highlight of the smartphone at the event, the handset's another much-advertised feature is its 3D scanning mode that lets the device capture high-resolution 3D images of an object.
Supporting dual SIM cards (Nano+Nano), the Sony Xperia XZ1 boasts a 5.2-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) TRILUMINOS display protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and runs an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. Users can also install microSD cards of up to 265GB for additional storage.
The smartphone uses a MotionEye 19MP Exmor RS sensor with the ability to shoot slow-motion video at 960 frames per second, predictive capture and 4K video recording. Sony Xperia XZ1 has also included a 13MP sensor with a 22mm wide angle lens and an aperture of f/2.0 lens.
The smartphone is powered by a 2700mAh battery with Smart Stamina 3.0 tech and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.
The launch comes few days after the introduction of the Xperia XA1 Plus in the country. The smartphone was launched for Rs 24,990. The key features of the smartphone include a 5.5-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB expandable storage, a 23MP rear camera with LED flash, 8MP front-facing camera and a 3430 mAh battery.
According to Sony, the USP of the smartphone is said to be its 23MP rear camera and battery life.
