Apple is back to making iPhones with 4-inch screens with the brand new iPhone SE. That's a big change from the general trend for premium smartphones, which have only gotten bigger in the last few years.
But Apple's iPhone SE has its merits that some might argue makes it better than the bigger iPhones.
While the iPhone 6's 4.7-inch screen is small enough for some people, some still might struggle to comfortably reach the upper corners of the screen with their thumbs.
The iPhone SE's 4-inch screen makes it easy for pretty much anyone with any hand size to reach every part of the screen.
The iPhone 6/6s is easy to put in your pocket and take out again, but it's not as easy as it was with the iPhone 5/5s' diminutive form.
The iPhone SE is 30 gram lighter than the iPhone 6/6s, which makes a surprisingly large difference to make it more portable. That means it's even easier to carry around and lighter in your bags or pockets.
The iPhone SE has all the advantages of a smaller phone while using and running the great specs in the iPhone 6s. That includes a stunning 12-megapixel camera, premium features like Live Photos, Apple Pay, and TouchID, and running on the super-powerful A9 chip.
At $399 for the 16GB model, the iPhone SE is $250 cheaper than the $650 price tag Apple usually sells its flagship iPhones. Plus, it has most of the same features.
To many, the iPhone 5s was the pinnacle of iPhone design. Indeed, its sharper, chamfered edges and metal/glass combination on the back can give the iPhone 5s, and now the SE, a classier look compared to the rounded edges on the iPhone 6s.
